AI security is becoming an institutional trust problem, CFR argues
A policy essay connects secure AI deployment with public confidence and the resilience of the technology supply chain.
What happened
A November 2025 Council on Foreign Relations essay argues that AI adoption depends on securing models, infrastructure and the organizations deploying them. It frames security as a condition for institutional and public trust.
This is policy analysis drawing on other reports, rather than a new incident disclosure. Its broad claims should not be converted into affected-product lists or a universal estimate of breach risk.
For security leaders, the practical question is accountability: who approves a deployment, evaluates its dependencies and handles a failure? Documenting those responsibilities makes a governance discussion more useful than treating AI security as a model-only problem.
