Research explained
Claude Code permission research questioned fallback handling of long compound commands
Adversa’s reported finding concerned deny-rule enforcement, separate from the earlier accidental source-code release.
What happened
SecurityWeek reported on Adversa AI research into Claude Code’s handling of long compound commands. The described parser limit could cause a command to fall back to an approval prompt before all individual deny rules were evaluated.
That is an important distinction from silent execution: an approval prompt remained, but the user might not know that a hard-deny policy had not been applied as expected. The report does not establish that every proposed payload executed or that the source-code leak itself caused this behavior.
Use a maintained release and treat complex command approvals cautiously. The reviewed source does not establish a fixed version; confirm current vendor guidance and keep developer credentials outside environments used to evaluate untrusted repositories.
Next step
Review current vendor guidance and inspect complex command approvals against intended deny policies.
