Research explained
LLM security starts with the data and tools a model can reach
A vendor primer offers a useful starting point for reviewing prompt injection, information exposure and unsafe model outputs.
What happened
Palo Alto Networks’ LLM security primer describes risks around model inputs, sensitive information and generated outputs. It is general guidance, rather than a disclosure of a specific product vulnerability or customer breach.
For a practical review, map what an application can read, where it can send information, and which actions its tools can perform. A model’s ability to generate an instruction should not grant permission to execute it.
Treat retrieved documents and web content as untrusted input. Apply access controls outside the model, validate outputs before using them in other systems, and test the application as a complete workflow.
Next step
Inventory data access, outbound destinations and tool permissions before deployment.
