REVIEW

Orca’s disclosed chain targeted a development workflow and its repository token, rather than the model in isolation.

What happened

The Hacker News reported on Orca Security’s RoguePilot disclosure in February 2026. Hidden instructions inside a GitHub issue could influence Copilot in a Codespaces workflow and lead to exposure of a repository token.

The reported chain combined untrusted issue content with the agent’s development-environment access. Microsoft addressed the issue following disclosure; the reporting does not establish that every repository or current Codespaces session remains exposed.

Review the permissions and lifetime of tokens available to development agents. Treat issue text and repository content as untrusted input, and require review before an assistant moves credentials or changes security-relevant files.

Read the original source.

Next step

Minimize development-agent token permissions and review unexpected credential access.
