What happened

CSO reported on Sysdig’s investigation of an AWS environment where attackers moved from an exposed credential to administrative control in roughly eight minutes. The observed activity took place in November 2025 and included attempts to abuse cloud resources.

The report attributes parts of the workflow to AI assistance. The specific timing describes this investigated event, not a universal attacker capability or proof of a new vulnerability in AWS authentication.

Review public storage for secrets, constrain IAM permissions and monitor unusual identity changes and resource creation. Rotate exposed credentials and investigate their historical use; the initial access and escalation path matter more than the AI label.
