Security brief

REVIEW

Zoom’s advisory supplies the affected branches for CVE-2026-53413, a more useful guide than a headline about prompt counts.

What happened

Zoom’s ZSB-26015 bulletin describes a missing bounds check in its annotation function. A meeting participant could send data that caused a buffer overwrite and potentially execute code on another participant’s device.

The vendor rates CVE-2026-53413 High. The requirement to participate in the meeting matters; this is not a claim that any unauthenticated internet user can take over every Zoom device.

Affected versions vary by product and branch. The advisory lists Workplace fixes at 7.1.0 and 7.0.6 for the respective branches, with separate VDI and SDK ranges. Apply a maintained release and check the vendor bulletin for the exact product rather than using one universal version number.
